2009 Robot

Abilities:

  • Our lunacy robot was by far the most technologically advanced robot we have ever built. It featured a homemade crab drive train, the ability to collect and store game pieces, and a rotating turret style shooting mechanism. The crab drive had a continuous chain wrapping going the full circumference of the robot allowing all four wheels to turn in simultaneously. It was driven by two CIM motors, one driving each side of the robot, each using a single speed transmission with a variable speed 270 degree rotational shooter. It could track the distance and angle of the scoring goals and adjust its shooting speed accordingly, however, our dumping mechanism proved more capable. Our dumper could store as many as 14 game pieces and score them all in less than 6 seconds if aligned properly
